As the winter doldrums set in during the post-holiday season, the library is here to keep things lively! Starting January 14th, Bingo Cards will be available at the front desk. Return with a completed row (or go for a full black-out) for a prize. Cards can be returned until February 15th.
We also have a variety of programs available to go along with our Game On! theme, including open play for Tabletop Games on Wednesday nights from 5 to 7 PM. We have an increasing collection of games for ages 3 to adult. Literally: something for everyone in the family!
Got a game at home that you haven’t been able to play (or can’t find anyone to play with)? Bring it along!
We will also be hosting an Introduction to Tabletop RPGs, starting on Tuesday, January 29th from 4 PM to 6 PM. If you’re not familiar, RPG stands for “Role Play Game”. The most recognizable of these is Dungeons & Dragons. However, we’ll start off with something a little less…complicated.
Mazes and Minotaurs is a free game, created to emulate original concept D&D. It takes place in a Greek Mythology inspired world called Mythica. You can find more about it on their website if you’d like to take a peek. The library will provide pre-rolled characters and stats –all you have to do is name them and play! The M&M game will be more combat based rather than story based, so….
If combat play isn’t really your thing but collaborative storytelling is join us for the 2nd in our intro series: Valentines Day at Hogwarts. We’ll use a “homebrew” system called “Harry Potter and the Tabletop RPG” to tell a unique story set in the world of 1989 Hogwarts. Yep, that’s Post-Voldemort’s demise (the first time), and way before Harry Potter. Buuuut, we may still see some favorite characters! You never know!
So, we hope you’ll join us for our Game On! Winter Reading events and activities. Because the main rule of gaming is: have fun.
